Volunteer

The volunteer program offers people like you an opportunity to share your skills, knowledge and time in support of our vital work. Phoenix could not exist without the invaluable contribution of the many dedicated volunteers who devote their time and energy to supporting our efforts.

Volunteers are involved in all aspects of our operations, from committee work to meal preparation in our residential programs. In exchange we strive to offer an exciting and rewarding volunteer experience. At present, there are over 75 volunteers sharing their talents with our staff and the youth we serve at Phoenix.

Some important things you should know:

  1. Although we offer a variety of volunteer positions, none of them involve counselling
  2. In order to provide our youth with consistency and to give volunteers time to feel comfortable in their roles, we require a commitment of at least six months.
  3. Our minimum age requirement is 19 for working directly with youth. Volunteers less than 19 years old must have written parental consent.
  4. A Criminal Record Check is required for most of our volunteer positions.
  5. Anyone less than 19 we ask that they are accompanied by an adult during the time they volunteer.
