Nutcracker Luncheon a Huge Success!
The Nutcracker Luncheon brought together the best parts of the holidays - delicious food, beautiful music and the spirit of giving, all in support of Phoenix and Symphony Nova Scotia.
The 2009 Nutcracker Luncheon was a marvelous success and a wonderful start to the holiday season. Presented by Maritimes and Northeast Pipelines, Phoenix and Symphony Nova Scotia hosted 830 guests for a delicious holiday dinner at the World Trade and Convention Centre.
Surrounded by ballerinas, holiday candy, music and a festive décor, guests enjoyed an exquisite performance by the Symphony Nova Scotia Orchestra. The audience was also delighted with a surprise performance by Aaron, a Phoenix youth, playing “Silent Night” on guitar alongside the orchestra. Kyle, another Phoenix youth, received a standing ovation after a powerful speech detailing his life journey and the important help he received from Phoenix.
Fun and laughter echoed throughout the luncheon as Ebenezer Scrooge made a guest appearance, encouraging attendees to “not be a scrooge” and give generously as they purchased raffle tickets. Three lucky winners were the recipients of the Nutcracker Luncheon exclusive raffle prize packages. The grand prize of two tickets “anywhere WestJet flies in the world” was won by Dave Van De Wetering. Congratulations and enjoy your trip, Dave!
Appreciation and gratitude are sent to our guests, volunteers and generous sponsors. Phoenix and Symphony Nova Scotia are pleased to have raised more than $50,000 that will be used to help improve the lives of youth in our community.
We look forward to seeing you next year for Nutcracker Luncheon 2010!
