Pengrowth Renews Their Support
Phoenix was extremely fortunate to once again recieve word that Pengrow has renewed the support to our youth for another year. Thanks to their ongoing commitment, Phoenix is able to continue providing innovative programming to our youth throughout our 2009-2010 fiscal year.
Their gift was made possible through the tireless efforts of the Women of Progress Halifax-Cornwallis. Their steadfast belief in our youth has been there from the inception of our programs over 20 years ago.
At Phoenix, our services are rooted in a strength-based perspective, which enables us to focus on the resiliency and positive attributes inherent in each individual youth. Experiential activities allow the youth to interact with the community while exploring their talents and developing skills. New experiences and the challenges they can present often result in youth developing greater self-esteem and confidence. For at-risk and homeless youth, participation in their community is a way to recognize and express that they belong to a community, that they are an important and integral part of it, and that they have something of value to offer – themselves.
Each of our programs provide youth with these varied opportunities. They are referred to as “programming nights”. Taking place after work and school, these activities focus on developing life skills. The youth gain invaluable experience, skills and knowledge to assist them as they transition to independence - when they are ready for that step forward.
Thank you to the Progress Club of Halifax-Cornwallis and Pengrowth for their generosity and support.
