Flemming Charitable Foundation Renews Support

Phoenix House gratefully receives a generous donation from the Flemming Foundation.
Phoenix is pleased to announce that the Flemming Charitable Foundation is renewing their support again this year. The Foundation’s generous donation of $23,000 will provide one year’s worth of food for youth living at Phoenix House. Phoenix House is a residential home that offers safe, supportive housing for ten youth ages 16-24. During their time at Phoenix they learn many important life skills, including meal planning and preparation.
Karen Burke, Director with the Foundation, presented the donation in early June during a visit to Phoenix House. Karen says, “As a ‘family’ foundation, we are very pleased to contribute to the Phoenix ‘family’ by supporting the nutrition needs of the kids. We all know the heart of the home is in the kitchen, and we are honoured to provide a part of that ‘heart.’” For at-risk and homeless youth, the opportunity to prepare and eat a meal with others is an invaluable experience in which they can learn, share and grow.
The Flemming Charitable Foundation has been a long time friend of Phoenix, providing support for approximately ten years. In recent years, they have supplied many youth with the nourishment necessary for positive growth and development. We are extremely grateful to the Foundation for believing in our youth and supporting their needs once again in 2009.
