Our Stories

"I first entered Phoenix Youth Programs by coming to the shelter. I could no longer safely live at my house with my step-mom, and I began learning that Phoenix could offer a unique approach to at risk or homeless youth in our community.

At first, I was a little nervous because I didn't know what to expect but that quickly passed because of all the friendly and helpful people who are involved in this program.

I progressed after a few short months of staying there to Phoenix House. I liked this place because while I was there, I learned important life skills that I would need when I would eventually become more independent. Skills such as cooking, cleaning, washing my laundry, and interacting with people more.

After a while, I felt I was ready to move on to live at the Supervised Apartment program which would allow me to live rent free while I am currently completing grade 12 this year in French Immersion at Citadel High School.

I plan on doing great things in the future. I know that whatever I end up doing, I will succeed in it, and I know I can attribute much of it to the tools that Phoenix Youth programs has given me and shown me how to use."
