Our Stories
After her daughter was born, Tara felt lonely, isolated and suffered with postpartum depression.
“I had a lot of issues from my past that were buried deep down inside and consumed me every day. My self-esteem was non-existent (and) there were times when I couldn’t provide the basic needs in life for my child. I can’t say enough about how amazing Phoenix staff’s support is. They believed in me when I didn’t.”
Three years ago Tara was accepted into the Business Program at the Nova Scotia Community College.
“Since graduating in June of 2004 I have made my dreams come true. All my hard work finally paid off. I acquired a great full time job working with the RCMP. I finally said goodbye to social assistance and now support my daughter on my own. I could never have done it without the help, support, and guidance of the wonderful staff at Phoenix.”
