Since 1987, Phoenix has been dedicated to supporting youth and contributing to a vibrant community. Our 16 locations (and counting!) across Kjipuktuk (Halifax) provide a continuum of care for youth ages 11-24 and their families. Our team of caring professionals recognize that each person who comes to us has individual strengths and needs.
We offer important wraparound supports including emergency shelter, housing support, access to food, education and employment services, healthcare, parenting support, advocacy, clinical therapy, and more.

This past year, we’ve expanded our services in order to meet the rising demand driven by the ongoing housing and affordability crisis.
Through the unwavering commitment of our staff, volunteers, and caring community members, we’ve scaled up our programs, strengthened partnerships, and enhanced outreach efforts to ensure vital resources continue to reach the youth, families, and communities we serve.
2,319 appointments and drop-in visits were made at Phoenix Centre for Youth, up 25.6% from the previous year. Almost half of those visits were related to food insecurity.
7,097 safe stays were provided at Phoenix Youth Shelter. That’s an occupancy rate of 97.2%.
With the addition of our newest residential program, the number of youth that can be housed through Phoenix Scattered Site Housing Program rose from 5 to 27—and the need for housing continues to grow.
83% of youth living at Phoenix Homes for Independence were employed and / or pursuing education, and the number of youth accessing Phoenix Learning & Employment Centre rose 21.3% from the previous year.
